The struggle never had meaning for the man who is free. But for us it has a meaning, because it is name-and-form that creates the world.
We have a place for struggle in the Vedanta, but not for fear. All fears will vanish when you begin to assert your own nature. If you think that you are bound, bound you will remain. If you think you are free, free you will be.
That sort of freedom which we can feel when we are yet in the phenomenal is a glimpse of the real but not yet the real.
I disagree with the idea that freedom is obedience to the laws of nature. I do not understand what it means. According to the history of human progress, it is disobedience to nature that has constituted that progress. It may be said that the conquest of lower laws was through the higher. But even there, the conquering mind was only trying to be free; and as soon as it found that the struggle was also through law, it wanted to conquer that also. So the ideal was freedom in every case.
LEY Y LIBERTAD
Para el hombre libre, la lucha nunca tuvo sentido. Pero para nosotros lo tiene, porque es "nombre y forma" lo que crea al mundo.
En Vedanta tenemos espacio para la lucha, pero no para el miedo. Todos los miedos se desvanecen cuando comienzas a afirmar tu propia naturaleza. Si pensás que estás ligado, seguirás ligado. Si pensás que sos libre, serás libre.
Esa clase de libertad que podemos sentir cuando todavía estamos en el mundo fenomenal, es una vislumbre de lo real, pero no es todavía lo real.
No estoy de acuerdo con la idea de que la libertad consiste en someternos a las leyes de la naturaleza. No comprendo lo que significa eso. La historia del progreso humano nos muestra que este se logró desobedeciéndole a la naturaleza. Puede afirmarse que la conquista de las leyes inferiores tuvo lugar a través de las leyes superiores. Pero aún en ese caso, la mente conquistadora solo estaba tratando de ser libre; y apenas descubrió que la lucha también obedecía a la ley, quiso conquistarla también a ella. Por lo tanto el ideal en todos los casos fue la libertad..
